The Tate Project

One of the most important things we can do as designers is take a space that is lacking character and incorporate the personality and style of our clients. We started in this home with a clean white aesthetic and brought a major transformation with pattern and color. While it can be intimidating to change from safe neutrals to bold patterns, such was the initial hesitation for these clients, it’s all about finding the right style for you.

The initial hesitation against wallpapers was gone once our clients saw the stunning florals that we used in the dining room, and allowed us to incorporate a similarly bold wallpaper in the powder bath.

Paired with more traditional feeling European-inspired furnishings and fixtures, the end result is a stately and elegant dining space that commands attention as soon as you walk through the front door.

Across the hall is the home office, which we again went bold with a black wall paint. Color, texture, and layers help large spaces feel cozy and allowed us to bring some warmth into this space.

Elements like the painted window casings and wallpapered ceiling help add visual interest. The presence of a potted tree and mounted buck introduces essential organic textures to the room.

The final space we designed for the home is a teenage boy’s dream.

Designing kids’ rooms can be tricky. They grow fast, their needs change, and their style is ever-evolving. We felt that we struck a perfect balance in this space, bringing elements of fun while maintaining a level of maturity.

It’s hard to pick a favorite feature of this room. The expansive built-ins, upholstered headboard, and basketball hoop lounge area all bring loads of character to the space.

This home is now chock-full of character. From the dining room to the office and bedroom, we are thankful that our clients trusted us to go bold and re-invent their space.
